Medi-Cal offers free or low-cost health coverage for Californians meeting eligibility requirements, regardless of immigration status. Starting January 1, 2026, Medi-Cal will freeze new enrollments for certain adults who are undocumented and do not have a satisfactory immigration status for federal full-scope Medi-Cal. This group will no longer be able to newly enroll in full-scope Medi-Cal, even if they qualified before under state-funded programs. WHO: Californians aged 19 and older, who are not pregnant, who are undocumented, and who qualified for full-scope Medi-Cal under state-funded adult expansions. If you're already enrolled in full-scope Medi-Cal, you will stay covered no matter your immigration status if you complete your annual renewal.

Public libraries can provide immigration study and test materials, official immigration forms and access to computers for filling out the citizenship application. Even if you don’t speak English your library can help. Best of all, library materials and services are free. All you have to do is find your local public library and sign up for your free library card.
