Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

John Busterud, 62, of Belvedere, has been appointed to the California Veterans Board. Busterud has been managing counsel and senior director at the Pacific Gas and Electric Company since 1985. He was an associate at Pillsbury, Madison & Sutro from 1983 to 1985 and at Crowell & Moring from 1981 to 1983. He served in the U.S. Army from 1991 to 2014, achieving the rank of colonel. Busterud earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Busterud is a Republican.

Barbara Boyd, 63, of Carmichael, has been appointed to the California State Rehabilitation Council. Boyd has been an education programs consultant at the California Department of Education, Special Education Division since 2015. She served as a program coordinator for the Oakland Unified School District from 2008 to 2015 and as a resource specialist for the Lompoc Unified School District from 2003 to 2008. Boyd was a special day class teacher for the Oxnard Unified School District from 2000 to 2003. She is a member of the California Community of Practice on Secondary Transition. Boyd earned a Master of Education degree from National University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Boyd is a Democrat.

Monica Rosenthal, 58, of Middletown, has been appointed to the 49th District Agricultural Association, Lake County Fair Board of Directors. Rosenthal has been an owner at Rosenthal Vineyards since 1995. She is a member of Soroptimist International of Clear Lake. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Rosenthal is a Democrat.
