SAN FRANCISCO – Following a private meeting in San Francisco tomorrow, Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. will host a media availability with German Federal Minister for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety Barbara Hendricks regarding Germany’s ongoing commitment to helping subnational jurisdictions fight climate change as part of the Under2 Coalition – the global pact among cities, states and countries to limit their emissions as needed to keep the global average temperature below 2 degrees Celsius, the level of potentially catastrophic consequences.

When: Tomorrow, Friday, June 9, 2017 at approx. 11:00 a.m.
Where: Milton Marks Auditorium, 455 Golden Gate Avenue, San Francisco, CA 94102

**NOTE: This event is open to credentialed media only.

The Under2 Coalition originated from a partnership between California and the German state of Baden-Württemberg with the aim of bringing together states and regions willing to reduce emissions and help galvanize action ahead of the United Nations’ 2015 Climate Conference (COP21). The coalition now includes 175 jurisdictions on six continents collectively representing more than 35 countries, 1.2 billion people and $28.8 trillion GDP – equivalent to over 16 percent of the global population and over 39 percent of the global economy. Leaders of the Federal Republic of Germany endorsed the Under 2 MOU in November 2015 and the German regions of Bavaria, Hesse, North Rhine-Westphalia, Schleswig-Holstein and Thuringia have also joined the Under2 Coalition.
