Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Karen Yamamoto, 67, of Sacramento, has been appointed to the California State Teachers’ Retirement Board. Yamamoto served as a second grade teacher for the Washington Unified School District from 1992 to 2007. She is a member of the Florin Chapter of the Japanese American Citizens League, the Asian Pacific Youth Leadership Project and the California Department of Education’s Curriculum Development and the Supplemental Materials Commission, where she was chair in 2003. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Yamamoto is a Democrat.

Iveta Brigis, 35, of Los Gatos, has been appointed to the Milton Marks “Little Hoover” Commission on California State Government Organization and Economy. Brigis has been Open Sourcing People Operations Program lead at Google Inc. since 2014. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the University of California, Irvine School of Business. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Brigis is a Democrat.

Jody Belgard, 59, of Corralitos, has been appointed to the 14th District Agricultural Association, Santa Cruz County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2006. Belgard has served as a systems support liaison at the Santa Cruz County Office of Education since 1985. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Belgard is a Republican.
