Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Anthony Campos, 73, of Watsonville, has been reappointed to the 14th District Agricultural Association, Santa Cruz County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2014. Campos was a member of the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors from 1999 to 2011. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Campos is a Democrat.

Don Dietrich, 58, of Scotts Valley, has been reappointed to the 14th District Agricultural Association, Santa Cruz County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2012. Dietrich has been a heavy equipment operator at Operating Engineers Local Union 3 since 2011, where he was a business representative from 1999 to 2010. He was a union representative at the International Federation of Professional and Technical Engineers Local 21 in 2011. Dietrich served as a deputy sheriff in the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office from 1985 to 1999. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Dietrich is a Democrat.

Loretta Estrada, 73, of Watsonville, has been appointed to the 14th District Agricultural Association, Santa Cruz County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 1989. Estrada was a food service manager for the Pajaro Valley Unified School District from 1974 to 2000. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Estrada is a Republican.

Lupe Ramirez Flores, 68, of Watsonville, has been appointed to the 14th District Agricultural Association, Santa Cruz County Fair Board of Directors. Flores has been a salon owner since 1975. She is a member of the California Cosmetology Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Flores is a Democrat.

Stephanie Fontana, 33, of Watsonville, has been reappointed to the 14th District Agricultural Association, Santa Cruz County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Fontana has been an assistant program coordinator at Paicines Ranch since 2015. She has been a 4-H program representative for the University of California Cooperative Extension Services for San Benito County since 2010 and for the University of California Cooperative Extension Services of Santa Cruz County from 2007 to 2015. She was a teacher at the Kinder Cottage Children’s Center from 2006 to 2010. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Fontana is a Democrat.

Michael Pruger, 54, of Santa Cruz, has been appointed to the 14th District Agricultural Association, Santa Cruz County Fair Board of Directors. Pruger has served as a deputy sheriff coroner in the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office since 2006. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Pruger is a Democrat.

Anthony “Mark” Borjon, 61, of Creston, has been reappointed to the 16th District Agricultural Association, California Mid-State Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2001. Borjon is an owner at Borjon Auto Center since 1991. He was a dealer at the Golden Hills Auto Center from 1991 to 2012. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Borjon is Republican.

Miguel Avila, 59, of Santa Barbara, has been reappointed to the 19th District Agricultural Association, Santa Barbara Fair and Exposition Board of Directors, where he has served since 2014. Avila has been a realtor at Sterling Properties since 2005. He was a district representative at American Communications Network from 2001 to 2005 and a produce manager for Safeway from 1985 to 2000. Avila is president of Friends of Woni Kenya International. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Avila is a Republican.

Michael Medel, 39, of Goleta, has been reappointed to the 19th District Agricultural Association, Santa Barbara Fair and Exposition Board of Directors, where he has served since 2013. Medel has held several positions at Santa Barbara City College since 2003, including director of admissions, coordinator of student outreach and orientation and adjunct faculty member. He was an adjunct faculty member at Oxnard College in 2008 and at Ventura College from 2006 to 2007. Medel was a teacher at Canalino Elementary School from 2001 to 2002 and a substitute teacher at Carpinteria High School in 2001. He earned a Master of Arts degree in communication studies from California State University, Northridge. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Medel is a Democrat.

John McQuarrie, 60, of Alturas, has being appointed to the 34th District Agricultural Association, Modoc District Fair Board of Directors. McQuarrie was a branch manager and loan officer for American AgCredit from 1986 to 2016. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. McQuarrie is a Republican.

Amy Vontour, 40, of Fort Bidwell, has been appointed to the 34th District Agricultural Association, Modoc District Fair Board of Directors. Vontour was a project coordinator at Bradley Builders from 2014 to 2015, an outside sale representative at Sunbelt Rentals from 2010 to 2013 and an owner at C and C Crane from 2007 to 2010. Vontour is a director for the California High School Rodeo Association. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Vontour is a Republican.
