Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Brian Duffy, 57, of Sacramento, has been appointed associate director of reception center institutions at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, where he has served as retired annuitant acting associate director since 2016. He was retired annuitant chief deputy warden at Avenal State Prison in 2016 and warden at California Health Care Facility, Stockton from 2014 to 2015 and at California Medical Facility, Vacaville from 2012 to 2014. Duffy was chief deputy warden at California Medical Facility, Vacaville from 2011 to 2012. He was special assistant to the undersecretary of operations at the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation from 2009 to 2011, where he was captain at the Division of Adult Institutions from 2008 to 2009. He served in several positions at California Medical Facility, Vacaville from 1994 to 2008, including correctional officer, sergeant, lieutenant and captain. Duffy was a correctional officer at North Kern State Prison from 1993 to 1994 and at San Quentin State Prison in 1993. He was a lobbyist at Duffy and Duffy from 1988 to 1992 and a consultant at Rees and Associates from 1988 to 1991. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $152,628. Duffy is a Republican.

George Kenline, 53, of Yucaipa, has been reappointed to the State Mining and Geology Board, where he has served since 2013. Kenline has been a mining and engineering geologist for San Bernardino County since 2013 and from 2006 to 2012. He was senior environmental services supervisor at Molycorp from 2012 to 2013 and an associate geologist at Secor International Inc. from 1993 to 2006. Kenline is a registered engineering geologist and hydrogeologist. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Kenline is registered without party preference.
