Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments:

Katherine Feinstein, 58, of Kentfield, has been appointed to the Medical Board of California. Feinstein served in several positions at the San Francisco County Superior Court from 2000 to 2013, including presiding judge, assistant presiding judge, supervising judge for the Unified Family Court and trial judge for the criminal, civil, family law and juvenile delinquency divisions. She was supervising attorney for family and children’s services at the San Francisco City Attorney’s Office from 1998 to 2000, director at the San Francisco Mayor’s Office of Criminal Justice from 1994 to 1996, an attorney in private practice from 1991 to 1994 and an associate at Carroll, Burdick and McDonough LLP in 1989. Feinstein served as an assistant district attorney at the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office from 1985 to 1988. She is a member of the Edgewood Center for Children and Families Board of Directors. Feinstein earned a Juris Doctor degree from the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. This position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $100 per diem. Feinstein is a Democrat.

Rajan Gill, 23, of Yuba City, has been reappointed to the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs, where he has served since 2013. Gill has been an adjunct professor of history at Yuba College since 2015 and a managing partner at Gill Ranches since 2010. He was lead researcher at Kesar Singh Dhillon Ghadar Memorial Trust in 2012. Gill is a past vice president of the Phi Alpha Theta Davis Chapter. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. He is a Republican.

Cirian Villavicencio, 35, of Sacramento, has been reappointed to the California Commission on Asian and Pacific Islander American Affairs, where he has served since 2014. Villavicencio has been an associate professor of political science at San Joaquin Delta College since 2012 and an adjunct professor at American River College and Folsom Lake College since 2007. He is a member of the Western Political Science Association, American Society for Public Administration and the Phi Beta Kappa Society. He earned a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Southern California. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Villavicencio is a Democrat.
