Governor Brown Appoints Kimberly J. Merrifield to Butte County Superior Court

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the appointment of Kimberly J. Merrifield to a judgeship in the Butte County Superior Court.

Merrifield, 48, of Chico, has been an attorney in private practice and a contract attorney at the Butte Office of the County Counsel since 2002. She was a contract attorney at Legal Services of Northern California from 2002 to 2015. Merrifield was a part-time attorney at the Self Help Assistance and Referral Program’s Oroville Office in 2007 and from 2002 to 2006. She was an associate at the Law Office of Robert A. Glusman from 1995 to 2002. Merrifield earned a Juris Doctor degree from Cal Northern School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Chico. She fills the vacancy created by the death of Judge Denny R. Forland. Merrifield is a Democrat.

The compensation for this position is $189,041.
