Governor Brown Announces Appointments

SACRAMENTO – Governor Edmund G. Brown Jr. today announced the following appointments.

Kim McCoy Wade, 44, of Oakland, has been appointed chief of the CalFresh Branch at the Welfare to Work Division of the California Department of Social Services. McCoy Wade has been an independent consultant since 2009. She was a campaign manager at Together for California’s Future in 2008, executive director at the California Association of Food Banks from 2004 to 2008 and director of education and advocacy at Food Banks of Northern California from 2001 to 2003. McCoy Wade was a campaign manager at the Alliance for Justice in 2000, a senior domestic policy analyst at Bread for the World from 1998 to 1999, assistant general counsel at the Children’s Defense Fund from 1995 to 1998 and was an organizer at 9to5 National Association of Working Women from 1991 to 1992. She is a member of the East Bay Women’s Political Caucus. McCoy Wade earned a Juris Doctor degree from the New York University School of Law. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $130,008. McCoy Wade is a Democrat.

M. Cecilia Cuevas, 51, of Fillmore, has been reappointed to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Cuevas has been a senior financial advisor at Merrill Lynch since 2004. She was director of development and communications at the American Red Cross Ventura County Chapter from 2002 to 2004 and development director at the Coalition to End Domestic and Sexual Violence from 1997 to 2002. She served as mayor pro-tem for the City of Fillmore from 2006 to 2008, where she served as a member of the city council from 2000 to 2006. Cuevas was president of the California Coalition Against Sexual Assault from 2008 to 2010 and vice president from 2005 to 2008. She earned a Master of Business Administration degree from the California Lutheran University. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Cuevas is a Democrat.

Shanté Morgan-Durisseau, 46, of Moorpark, has been appointed to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board of Directors. Morgan-Durisseau has been managing editor at the California State University, Northridge Marketing and Communications Office since 2008. She was editor at Turning Points Magazine from 2004 to 2007, instructor at California Lutheran University from 2001 to 2003, a lecturer at the California State University, Northridge Department of Journalism from 1997 to 2000 and a political affairs reporter at Copley News Service from 1993 to 2001. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Morgan-Durisseau is a Democrat.

Daniel Long, 57, of Ventura, has been reappointed to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2012. Long has been owner at Daniel Long Painting since 1991 and a commercial painting contractor since 1978. He is chair of the City of Ventura Planning Commission, where he has been a member since 2007. He has been a volunteer at the Ventura County Fair since 1989. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Long is a Democrat.

Armando Lopez, 69, of Oxnard, has been reappointed to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2003. Lopez has been owner at the Armando Lopez Company since 1984. He is a member of the Arts Collaborative Board of Directors and the Gull Wings Children’s Museum Board of Directors. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Lopez is registered without party preference.

Jim Salzer, 72, of Camarillo, has been reappointed to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board of Directors, where he has served since 2012. Salzer has been owner and operator at Salzer Record and Video since 1966. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Salzer is a Democrat.

Bonnie Weigel, 46, of Ventura, has been reappointed to the 31st District Agricultural Association, Ventura County Fair Board of Directors, where she has served since 2012. Weigel has served as president and chief executive officer at FOOD Share Inc. since 2008. She was executive director at the California Strawberry Festival from 2005 to 2008. Weigel is a member of Feeding America’s National Diversity and Food Insecurity to Family Stability steering councils. This position does not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation. Weigel is a Republican.
