Brown Jr. will join National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) Vice Chairman Xie Zhenhua, China’s lead international climate negotiator, tomorrow in San Francisco to sign a landmark agreement to boost bilateral cooperation on climate change, clean energy and low carbon development.
The Memorandum of Understanding, which will be signed tomorrow, represents the first agreement between China’s NDRC and a subnational government on climate change and follows the Governor’s Trade and Investment Mission to China in April and meeting with China’s President Xi Jinping in June. The NDRC oversees China’s efforts to address climate change and much of the government’s economic strategy.
