About the Social Media Dashboard

The Social Media Dashboard features a variety of different statistics about the state of California’s usage of social media channels. Features of the dashboard include the total number of Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube channels across state departments. This page also ranks the most popular department social media channels in the state, as well as information about California’s main social media channels. Currently, this dashboard focuses on three of the most popular social media websites: Twitter, Facebook, and YouTube. However, in the future, other services will be added.

This data is obtained from Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook on a periodic basis. The data shows information about California’s official social media channel; it does not include all state departments.

The data contained in this dashboard is provided for informational and educational purposes only. Most of the data is obtained from Google Analytics™ and relies on the use of their API.
